C88
C88 is an informational tool for amateur astronomers. It provides detailed informations about the celestial sphere objects, visible with naked eyes and for the use of an eyepiece of a modest amateur telescope to observe deep sky objects. Complex informations about the planets, sun and moon completes the functionallity of the program. C88 bases on the extensive data of the Bright Star Catalogue (9110 entries) and of the Saguaro Astronomy Club Deep
EarthWatch
EarthWatch (for Windows) displays a beautiful graphical world clock with a dynamic map image of the world showing the day and night areas, time zone hours, a sundial, and an almanac information panel featuring sunrise/sunset times, lunar phase information, and much more -- all in real-time or time-lapse animation.
GrandTour
GRANDTOUR creates accurate wireframe scenes from Voyager or Giotto spacecraft, and from space or Earth (spacecraft visible). User has considerable control over time, field, etc., and many frames/second are generated. Developed at JPL to assist in analysis of science and optical navigation data, it was also filmed by the BBC/NOVA for a Voyager documentary. Conveniently runs from any Windows/DOS.
Gravitorium Pro
The prime purpose of Gravitorium is to let you play with ideas about gravity and gravitational systems. While it's not intended to be a highly accurate solar system simulator, at low speeds its accuracy is really pretty good. And, best of all, it lets you "play universe maker". Throw in a few extra planets, add a black hole, set a comet plunging towards the Earth! Or create an entirely new solar system from scratch.
Orbit Xplorer
Educational orbit and gravitation simulator for high school, college and beginning university physics and astronomy. Easily create, run, print and save a simulation. Includes 29 introductory to advanced premade simulations with activities page in html-format. Uses actual pictures of planets. Plot orbits in a plane or in 3D. View time, distances, speeds, accelerations and energies as they change. Zoom and change parameters during the simulation.
StarStrider
StarStrider is a software planetarium that utilizes the latest in 3D-technology in order to show you not only the planets and satellites of our solar system, but also the more than 100 000 stars , all in real-time 3D. You'll also find galaxies, nebulae, supernova remnants, and the band of the Milky Way. StarStrider combines photo realism and scientific accuracy with plain fun and beautiful vistas! Optional add-on: 2 million stars!
Astro-Mania
Astro-Mania teaches all the important facts about 38 astronomical objects such as planets and stars. It has a learning database that includes essays, images, and lists of all the important facts for each of the 38 space objects. The space objects include the nine planets, stars and star types, asteroids, meteorites, galaxies, and more.
CyberSky
CyberSky is an exciting, entertaining, and educational astronomy program that transforms your personal computer into your personal planetarium. CyberSky provides an excellent way to learn about astronomy and to explore the wonders of the sky visible in the distant past, the present, and the far-off future.
AllDay
Calendar for year overviews. Gregorian, Julian, Jewish, Islamic calendar systems supported. Computes holidays, sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, moon phase, number of day in year, number of week in year, julian day number, remaining days in year, remaining weeks in year. Personal events like holidays, birthdays, vacations etc. Day events and period events with vavarious repeat types. Import/export, count number of days, inspector, event list.
Almanac
Almanac calculates the equatorial coordinates of the sun, the moon, and the planets. Using these results it can calculate the times of rising, setting, and meridian transit for each of these celestial bodies. Additionally, it can calculate the beginning and ending of astronomical, nautical, and civil twilight. The results of the calculations are formatted and written into a text editor.
